About Kate & the Foundation

The reason Kate's Kids was founded is simple... to perpetuate Kate's memory and her love of life.

Kate was survived by her husband of less than a year, Jeff Berman. Kate and Jeff met in Las Vegas in November of 2001. She was on a "girls weekend" to celebrate her birthday; he was there for work. Her mom, Marge, thought she was nuts when she came home from Vegas and proclaimed she'd met the man she was going to marry. They were married in September of 2002 in her parents' backyard.

It is in her honor and memory that her husband, Jeff, founded Kate's Kids. Many of her family and friends assist with foundation events and serve on its Board of Directors. While Kate did not have children of her own, she very much enjoyed her nieces and nephews and had hoped she and Jeff would one day be parents.

Accomplishments

Kate's Kids has raised over $145,000 since its beginning in 2004 and has given assistance to 25 families and 46 children who have been impacted by a drunken driving or severe accident.
